Genuine Horseshoe Crab Natural History Specimen

A fascinating genuine dried horseshoe crab specimen, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities, natural-history collection or unusual nautical/oddities display.

The specimen displays the distinctive rounded armoured carapace, serrated margins and characteristic long pointed tail (telson) for which horseshoe crabs are so recognisable. The natural brown/golden colouring has developed an attractive aged patina.

The specimen has clearly had a life before becoming a display piece and shows various areas of age-related damage and deterioration, including a prominent split/crack through the carapace and losses to the underside. Please study all photographs carefully as these form an important part of the description.

Condition: Used vintage/natural-history specimen with damage and losses commensurate with age and its fragile nature. Not suitable for handling by children.

A wonderfully unusual piece for collectors of zoological specimens, natural history, taxidermy, curiosities and cabinet-of-curiosities displays.

Please note: Sold as a natural-history specimen/display item. Species and exact age unknown.

Measurements: Approximately 33 cm from the front of the carapace to the tip of the tail, and approximately 15.5 cm at its widest point.

A particularly impressive-sized specimen, making an excellent centrepiece for a cabinet of curiosities or natural-history display.
