Vintage Morton’s Steakhouse “Sleeping Pig” Oil Lamp – Petite Choses USA – c.1980s
Free UK shipping on orders over £50
A wonderfully unusual piece of vintage American restaurant memorabilia — the iconic Morton’s Steakhouse “Sleeping Pig” table oil lamp.
The lamp features the distinctive reclining pig figure in a pewter-coloured metal, supporting the original glass oil reservoir, burner fitting and unusual woven gold-tone shade.
The underside retains its original “Petite(s) Choses USA” label, which is an especially nice detail and helps identify the maker of the lamp. The design is strongly associated with Morton’s The Steakhouse, where the famous sleeping pig lamps became a characteristic feature of the restaurant tables.
This is a particularly attractive example, retaining the complete original lamp assembly, including the glass reservoir and decorative woven shade. The pig has developed a lovely aged surface and patina consistent with its vintage.
A fantastic conversation piece for collectors of restaurant memorabilia, American advertising, vintage lighting or unusual Americana, as well as anyone who simply appreciates a quirky and beautifully made vintage object.
Condition: Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and use. Some surface marks/patina to the pig and age-related wear to the woven shade. The glass reservoir is present. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
